The Smiths Collections
October 27, 2006
My seldom interest towards The Smiths has begun back in 2002. One night, MTV started to play “How Soon Is Now” video on their Classic programme. That instance, I fell in love with them.
However, the love story does not come quickly. Face it, back then I was just a struggling college student, which initially doesn’t have much money to buy a CD. So, the idea of having a Smiths record was merely a dream.
Until in 2004, I have managed to gather some money to buy my first Smiths records. It was their “Very Best of The Smiths” album. I guess that’s the beginners guide towards The Smiths, so I bought that. For long, that was my favorite album of all time.
After I have a job, I finally get to pursue my dream of collecting rare CD’s (well, the term ‘rare’ here is somewhat subjective to my own definition, so a ‘rare’ CD for me doesn’t always be a rare CD for other). Every month I can save money to buy one CD that I really want. The first couple of months I had collected some New Order records. You will surprise what records store in Indonesia could offers. Some nice rare CD’s that very tempting to collect, spread in every corner in Jakarta.
This rare-records-hunting is my past time hobby that I really enjoy. The adrenaline of finding the CD you hunt, the agony of not getting what you want, that makes it a thrilling ride.
Well, I didn’t collect all of the New Order’s record that were available in Indonesia, because after a couple of months, I found this neat records store which sells The Smiths “Meat is Murder”, “The Queen is Dead”, and “Louder Than Bombs” all in one store! (..And just when I thought that records stores in Indonesia were much lame..)
So I change direction, The Smiths was top on my hunting lists, and in couple of months, thousands of Rupiahs spend, dozens of record store visits, here is my Smiths collection, all bought domestically (specifically, right here in Jakarta):

- # - And so begin the brick wars! On the axis side, it's Steve Jobs and its Apple. The Allied side consists of peoples who unlocked their iPhone. But nooo, they're not the only ones. According to Scoble, some regular iPhone user has the same problem too after the update that Apple released. It's getting hotter now. :) - #
- Remember Kubrick's "A Clockwork Orange"? here's behind-the-scenes footage to relive that legendary movie (via Bedazzled)

Well, itu sebenernya tau Smithsnya sudah lama tapi kurang ngeh, pas baru liat videonya “How Soon Is Now” baru jatuh cinta.

GILE. Delapan ratus ribu.
