Meneruskan pembahasan tentang iPod Unlocking kemarin, saya ingin membahas sedikit mengenai kemungkinan modifikasi iPod Touch.

Akhirnya Apple menentukan sikap mengenai praktek unlocking iPhone.

Last year, I started collecting Nintendo Entertainment System (or what we preferred in the old days just “Nintendo”) ROM’s. I occasionaly got this retro feeling to try stuff from the days of yore.
These days, you could download anything from the net. Started with ROM’s, emulators, 8-bit music, and of course the back end of a NES system, I became a NES junkie. But one thing missing there. I did not own a NES box. I mean, I once owned it, but I gave it to one of my nephews a couple years ago. One decision that would make me regret for the rest of time.
On Sunday, after having a conversation with my cousin, I accidentaly found out that he owns a NES box (damn, why I haven’t asked him before?). So we search it in his closet, Tested it, works fine. Bring it up to my room.Connect the audio/video cable (not surprisingly, it had only two kind of cable), the power adapter, and voila!

He owns two catridges consist of a couple of games (one of it was that infamous ‘n-in-one’ catridge, where they put n number of games, which actually an extraction from some level of games in there, lame yet funny)

Early in the morning, yesterday. I had an extremely bad headache for the lack of sleep that I did in the past several days. The reason? UEFA Champions League 2nd Leg Semifinal. Yeah, what a bummer, Man United did not go through to Athens. Well, at least Liverpool stopped Chelsea for seeing their first Champions League Final.
Okay, so that morning I went to the office just to notice that the forum is down.
Now that’s new…
Made some phone calls, talk to some guys, and the news that I received was quite shocking. It seems the hosting center had a power failure for about 40 minutes the night before. The reason that my server was down was because it doesn’t automatically reboot after the power loss in that hosting center.
Well I know this technical error regarding to the server was somehow unsustainable by my team. But a power failure in one of the biggest data center in Indonesia for that long? that was beyond me. What is the problem guys? don’t you have some sort of back up powers, you surely had it, right? But why was it not working as it suppose to?
I’m not complaining to anybody here, I’m just that curious….
Big sorry for the all the forum members. Really, I am so regretful for this unprecedented events.

I have had this annoying problem with my Powerbook. Yes, this 12’ Powerbook has problems too. For a couple of month, I was satisfied with until I brought it when I went to the road show. It’s rather heavy when I carry it in the backpack. It makes my back hurts for a while. Well, it’s probably not a traveling type notebook.
Another problem that still arises occasionally was the battery-charging problem. When it’s below 60% of charge, then it will go slowly (I’m talking about 1% increase per 6 hours of charging) increasing.
But that’s not it, to make the matter worse, I got this random glitch, sometimes when in unplug the cable, the notebook will just shut down as if it wasn’t powered up by the battery. When I plug the cable again and turn it on again, the battery bar will show me 0% of charge. Dang! Then I have to charge it all over again, with the fact that it will charge 1% in every 6 hours or so, then I need almost a month to full charge it.
Well last night, the same thing happen, the battery bars shows a fully charged battery (100%). Then I unplugged and voila! It goes blank. Luckily, when I turn it on again, the bar still shows a 100% charged battery. The problem solved when I remove the battery and put it back in. Still, these kinds of things were very annoying.
Anyone has the same problem?

A couple of week ago, I want to maximize my old system. My old Leprechaun wasn’t a wrecked, the only thing that’s not working in there was the hard drive. I was planning to change the hard drive with a new one and use it to test Ubuntu.
But I tend to change my mind rapidly. Last week after days of researching the perfect specification for my needs, I decided to build a new PC, rather than polishing the old one. With long discussions with my best friend Chris, I bought this new system. : AMD64 3200+ with 1 GB of DDR RAM, integrated graphic card and 80GB hard drive.
This specification is perfect for my purpose. After working at CHIP a year ago, I barely use my desktop PC at home. I gave my brother the one PC (I called it the amusement PC :) that I had and stuck with my old Leprechaun, but actually, I barely touched it. I’ve been busy using my dad’s laptop for my needs, cause face it, laptop’s are more flexible.
However, after some time, I missed using a desktop. I used Linux in a daily basis on my job, but as a server system. I want to use Linux for fun just like old times. After testing Ubuntu, I believe that Linux can be now be fully used as a desktop system just like Windows and Mac.
So I’m guessing that I do not need a state-of-the-art hardware, I even use an integrated graphic card. My emphasis is on memory; 1GB of memory seems more than adequate for Linux, especially on Ubuntu. 80GB of hard drive? Well I can live with a less capacity, but that’s the minimum specification out there in the market.

As an online editor, sometimes when I dont have many tasks to do, I can tend to some press conferences. Today, luckily I went to the one of the important conference this month, the launch of Intel Core 2 Duo in Indonesia.
After the worldwide announcement on July 27, today Intel launches their revolutionary processor, the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo here in Indonesia. This brave innovation is consider as Intels technology breakthrough in core computing since they released Pentium Processor back in 1993. This Intel® Core™ 2 Duo is claim by Intel to be 40% faster in performance and 40% more efficient in terms of energy conservation, thats the breakthrough.
To achieve the goal, Intel had to redesign its core architecture. This 3rd generation dual core processor (the first was Intel Pentium D and the second was Intel Core Duo) has 291 millions transistor each sizing to 65nm.
With this neatly technology, they released a sets of processor family (ten on of them to be exact, detailed on the table below) and a series of chipsets to supports the chips, starting from Intel 975X, Intel 965 and Intel Mobile 945 Express.
